The largest commercial Group in British horseracing, The Jockey Club exists solely for the long-term good of the sport and has done since 1750.
We were approached by The Jockey Club to help them revolutionise the way in which they deliver the runners and their weights to the press and special guests at their prestigious weights event for the 2017 Randox Grand National. The event was to be televised via ITV Racing, with other guest such as the BBC and Sky Sports also covering the news.
We needed to create something that not only looked great but was simple to understand on the large screens at the V&A Museum in London as well as Aintree Race Course in Liverpool. We also needed to ensure that things would look just as good on the small screen when televised.
Working closely with The Jockey Club and their marketing and media team we created an enterprise App to run on iPad that could be controlled by the presenter, allowing them to unveil the runners, including statistical information, silk colour and fully featured videos that would be played during the main presentation and interviews.
Our solution also needed to incorporate data from Timeform and Racing UK, as well as working with The Jockey Club's branding team to ensure that this truly felt like part of the 2017 Randox Grand National in both performance as well as look and feel.
Simple and intuitive to use, complete with Apple AirPlay support, this project was completed in under 4 weeks from start to finish, enabling The Jockey Club to be fully confident that their launch event could showcase it's revolutionary new format, never before seen in Horse Racing.
